On 15 May 2026, Professor Cecilia Chan was invited as a keynote speaker at the annual JTLC Teaching and Learning Conference 2026 at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.



Centred on the theme AI+ Education: Transforming Educator Roles, Practices, and Professional Development”, the conference brought together educators, scholars, and institutional leaders to discuss the evolving role of higher education in the AI era. Professor Chan’s keynote focused on the critical shifts in AI, assessment, and pedagogical innovation, exploring how educators and learner redefine their roles practices, and competencies in response to rapid technological change.



In addition to delivering the keynote, Professor Chan participated in a high-level strategic roundtable forum titled “Rethinking Teachers’ Professional Development in the AI Era: University Strategies and Challenges”. The roundtable provided a platform for in-depth exchange with leaders from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Beihang University and China Agricultural University on how institutions can support educators’ professional development amid AI-driven transformation.



Together with global partners, Professor Cecilia Chan and the AI in Education Lab team remain committed to exploring how education can preserve its developmental and human-centred essence amid digital transformation, while ensuring that technology meaningfully enhances teaching, learning, assessment, and professional growth.
