On 20 March, Prof. Cecilia Chan and her HKU AI in Education Lab team supported Esperanza in organising a pivotal forum to explore the shifting dynamics of human development. The event, hosted by Esperanza and co-organised with HKU AI in Education Lab and HKU iCube, served as a critical platform for reconciling the rapid pace of technological integration with the evolving needs of the modern family.

The forum moved beyond technical discourse to address the socio-educational challenges of raising "AI natives." As Gen Alpha and Gen Z prepare for a labour market increasingly defined by cognitive automation, the session explored how the traditional boundaries of home and school are being redrawn.

The evening’s highlight was a cross-generational dialogue moderated by Prof. Cecilia Chan herself. This session, a core component of the Esperanza forum, facilitated a candid exchange between parents and "AI-native" students, providing a rare glimpse into the expectations and anxieties of the next generation.

By leading this dialogue, the AI in Education Lab team continues to foster essential conversations that ensure technology serves to enhance, rather than displace, the fundamental human connections at the heart of education. This collaborative effort further underscores the commitment of all partners to building a robust digital education ecosystem in Hong Kong through cross-sector engagement.
