On 24 June 2026, Professor Cecilia Ka Yuk Chan and Dr. Katherine Lee were invited to participate in the invitation-only Crestron Education Summit 2026, held on HKU campus. This big event brought together technologists and educational leaders from across Asia to explore actionable strategies and operational directions for the mutual advancement of education and technology.

During the summit, Prof. Chan delivered a compelling keynote titled: "Redesigning the Future: AI Literacy and Assessment for Education". She emphasised the powerful role that AI literacy and assessment design will play in shaping future educational environments. Meanwhile, Dr. Lee took part in a dedicated panel discussion where she contributed her valuable insights on how student-centred teaching approaches and pedagogy should guide technology use in the classroom. These candid dialogues highlighted a consistent and vital insight: technology is more than a mere tool; it can be a genuine facilitator for educational improvement, helping institutions accurately measure outcomes and drive higher efficiency.

The issues discussed in the forum strongly align with the core research questions our team is dedicated to. The role of technology is actively being reshaped by rapid advancements in the field, and it is increasingly vital that both students and teachers are empowered with AI literacy, enabling them to meaningfully engage in and redesign assessments for the AI era.

The HKU AI in Education Lab will continue to focus on this strategic direction. We remain eager to foster further conversations and cooperation with educational leaders, policymakers, researchers, and teachers who are devoted to this shared goal.
